Nash T-shirt Necklace tutorial

It's been quite some time now since I saw a tutorial on how to make a t-shirt necklace..some time back I wanted to make mine..
So I decided to make a tutorial to share my ideas..
Here you go, my first tutorial :)

What you'll need:
  1. 12 or more t-shirt strings
  2. A square piece of tshirt
  3. A fabric flower or Flower made from tshirt
  4. Fabric Glue
  5. Any more decorations like beads(optional)

What you need to know:

Basically you need an extra large t-shirt from which you cut 6 or more pieces horizontally of 1 inch large. I made mine from a  t-shirt with seams so it was like getting 2 strings from 1 piece as when you pull the piece it will break into 2 because of the seam which result into getting 12 strings with the 6 pieces. So if you have a seamless t-shirt it's far much better you just need to cut the 6 pieces pull them tight you'll get a very long string which you cut into 2 or if you want to make a longer necklace you can still not cut it but provided you have 12 strings at the end.

If you cannot understand my above explanations look for other tutorials which shows you how to change your pieces of t-shirt into strings.

I forgot to take pictures of how I did so a big sorry for that.

STEP 1

Start by make a knot and braid 3 strings until a bit less than 1/2 the length of the string.
Make a knot after braiding to secure.

STEP 2

Repeat step 1 2 more times and you'll end up with 3 braided strings and 4 strings on their own.
Notice the white arrow on the following picture indicating the 2 knots you need to make.

STEP 3

Apply fabric glue on the square piece of fabric, apply the glue everywhere on the piece of cloth as shown on the picture.

Place one end of your strings on the left side of the square and apply some force if you're using a weak glue.
Then carefully put the other end on the right hand side taking care of not removing the ends on the left side.

HINT: you can play on the length of your string by pulling it a bit more on the center if you want so that you can end up with a layered necklace.

STEP 4

Now apply more glue on the ends of the strings as shown on the 2nd picture above. (Sorry I misplace the pictures).
Then be careful and take the top side of the piece of t-shirt and pull it down tightly. After doing so,move the bottom part to the top placing it on the top side still pulling it tight so that the strings do not fall apart. Apply some force on it in order for all the parts to stick well together.
(my apology again for the 2nd picture,a bit dull!)

STEP 5

The last step of this tutorial is when you take 3 strings from the side you want to be the front of your necklace and glue your flower to it.

HINT: you can put either a flower made from your t-shirt itself as I did or you can put a fabric flower as the pictures I put before. IF you don't want flowers you can still put beads but before you glue the strings to your piece of cloth.

So here you are, with a beautiful t-shirt necklace, simple and classy..!
Enjoy! ;)
